AquaProbe II
AquaProbe II is an economic alternative to full bore meteringand has been designed for worldwide needs. It comprises anelectromagnetic sensing head mounted on the end of asupport rod. This whole assembly can be installed in existingpipelines without the need for the major excavations oralterations to pipework associated with full bore meters. It canalso be fitted without interruption to the flow and can be easilyremoved for periodic calibration or inspection, or inserted at asecond location through the provision of tappings and valveson the supply pipelines.
Key features are the wide flow range, with minimum velocitieswell below insertion turbine or DP devices, and no movingparts, resulting in increased reliability and reducedmaintenance. The AquaProbe meets the widest variety of siterequirements and applications, from permanent monitoringthrough to site surveying.
The AquaProbe is designed for installation in existing pipelinesby means of a small valved tapping. It is normally installed withthe sensing head on the pipe centre-line, but may be located atthe critical position (the mean velocity position) a distance of1⁄8 of the diameter away from the wall.
It provides an accurate local measurement of the watervelocity and, provided the flow profile is fully developed, a goodflow volume measurement.
If the profile is not fully developed a traverse of the pipe can becarried out which enables an accurate flow volumemeasurement to be obtained in non-ideal networks.

Transmitters
The transmitter provides a comprehensive display of all flowdata including forward and reverse flow totals, flow rate, pressure, time/date etc. If all the data is not required, thetransmitter is easily configured to only display the requiredvalues, thus ensuring simple reading with no superfluousdata. The two standard pulse outputs (forward and reverseflow direction) are compatible with the wide range ofdataloggers used in the water industry world wide.
The transmitter is fully submersible, thus enabling it to belocally mounted in chambers which are liable to flooding oralternatively up to 200m (650 ft) remote from the probe tofacilitate ease of reading.
AquaProbe II is the ideal solution for locations where there isno external power. Two user-replaceable internal batteriesprovide a 21/2 year battery life to eliminate the high cost ofproviding a mains supply to the meter.
A unique Battery Management System gives >1 yearreplacement window for individual batteries and eliminatesflat battery interruption to flow measurement.
The alternative a.c.-powered meter has optional batterybackup to ensure no loss of flow measurement during powerdown periods.
‘Fit and Flow’
