Let the classics be classics

With the rapid development of society and economy,great changes have taken place in our mindsets recently.Based on the controversial issue whether we should take a new look at the classics,furious debate has broken out at current times.Just as a saying goes,the power of the classics is great,making it take roots on our mind,then surviving in the test of time.Nevertheless,the respect we have for them is more than the time they have existed,but the knowledge,capable of irrigating the fields in our hearts permanently.As far as I am concerned,the classics will not only have our vision widened,horizons broadened and mind cleared,but also help us acquire knowledge and skills of the past,the present together with the future.

First of all,the classics can assist us in memorizing what should be memorized.Were it not for the literatures passed down from the past,our cognition about the Silk Route would have gone with the wind,let along enormous contributions made by militarists,politicians and literati.If we take them seriously,we are likely to find it tough to keep pace with their wisdom.For instance,the seismograph,invented by Zhang Heng,the tricks of the trade cannot be completely worked out,reckless of the fact that a variety of scientists have spent their lifetime recreating it,only to make a model,which turns out useless.In the meantime,people are enjoying the convenience by paper-making.What's more,the invention of gun power opens up a new period of wars using guns and bombs,on behalf of the country's military force.Besides,the movable-type printing improves how to take notes,getting rid of lettering on bamboos.Likewise,it's not exaggerated to say that the compass makes it feasible to circumnavigate the globe,just as the pharos on the vast expanse of the sea,indicating directions.Thanks to these classics,we can venture into the future.

Secondly,the knowledge can apply to figure out problems nowadays.With the remarkable improvement of people's living standard,we individuals come to ignore the essential role,played increasingly by the classics.In reference to conducting ourselves,the Analects of Confucius does bring out the facts and reasons,which serve as role models for us,thus building a healthy body and mind.For example,do not take it for granted that others should show their selfless love to you,you should also take their feelings into account.Take myself for example,time cannot wash away my memory that there was a time when I was cornered into a point where my dream was pale compared with the harsh reality,thus sinking into oceans of sorrow.Had it not been for the aid of literature of Helen Keller,I would not have my passion reignited.In addition,when confronted with mathematic

problems,our first instinct is to use PI,calculated by Zu Chongzhi.Gradually,we tend to find out that the reason why the classics are classics is the knowledge it conveys to us,shortening the distance between the reality and utopian goal.

Ultimately,only an open and inclusive country can become an advanced one.Just as Isaac Newton said that he saw further than others,because he stood on the shoulder of giants,and so has our classic works.There is no denying that it is the classics that makes us think and make our minds mature.In reverse,many a person held the opposite view that we do not need them any more,as they are out of date.In their prospects,it is commonly believed that what is to be concentrated is the future rather than the past lagging behind.Certainly,what they ignore is that the past lays a solid foundation for everything,not all ideas will be an armchair strategist,and a castle in the air.As a proverb goes,whoever forgets the past is bound to inevitably repeat it,so the most sensible way to develop advanced science and technology is to learn from the past.

As we are advancing towards the future, it is our responsibility to venture into the unknown and generate new understanding of man and nature.To sum up,it is universally acknowledged that what it takes to succeed is keeping our past in mind and use it properly.Moreover,it is high time that we make joint efforts to protect them,to let them pass on from generation to generation,instead of putting them in the back of drawers.Admittedly,though a great deal of temptation can cloud our horizons for a time,it can finally be shaken off.The real art has the power to strike into our heart,educating us to be a better person than before and reignite our passion.Last but not least,only when we let the classics be classics will we turn over a new leaf in life perviously henceforth.
