Do you agree with the statement that most advertisements make products seem much better than they really are?

I bought a new handbag on the internet which looked not only fashion but also practical on the picture. However, as soon as I opened the package, the real goods was very different from the advertisement showed. The workmanship was very rough and the color was not as bright as on the picture. This experience could truly prove the theory that “most ads. make the products better than they really are”.

At the time when advertisements just came up to the customers, they were convinced and cogent. However, years after, producers were gradually used to over-promoting the products through the advertisement since they think that if they don’t use spectacular words to draw audience’s attention, the sale of the goods won’t increase. So this theory leads the advertisements to become more and more inconvincible.

There is a wide range of way for goods to be promoted, especially by media. All kinds of advertisements are nowadays easily seen on the TV, newspaper and websites. Some shops even hire people to send leaflet on the street or stick posters on the wall.

For the previous way of advertising, although the descriptions of the goods are usually better than they really are, the promotion are at least permitted, thus, they are not lying. But for the latter one, which is a very common way of

advertising in destitute region of China are usually illegal. For example, a leaflet may declare that a clinic is well-known of treating Nephropathy and one can spend little money to be cured by a famous doctor. But the truth is, the so-called famous clinic is just a small and untidy room, and the famous doctor may be the only doctor of the clinic!

In conclusion, from the experience of daily life, advertisements are unbelievable. As a customer, one should have the ability to distinguish the lie and the truth.
