摘要：A colored backing member provides heat conduction and support for a firstchemical or chemicals disposed thereon at a plurality of discrete positions. As the firstchemical or chemicals change state at different known temperatures for each of thediscrete positions, their visual characteristics also change from opacity to translucence.This transition is particularly apparent since the color of the backing member becomesvisible at those discrete positions associated with the translucent first chemicals. Indiciacorresponding to the known temperature associated with each of the discrete positionsis provided on the backing member. The invention includes a method for maintaining apermanent record of the measured temperature or, alternatively, for recycling the deviceto measure a subsequent temperature.
