摘要：Cells and methods for their preparation are provided, wereby the cells arecharacterized by being compatible with the central nervous system, being capable of theinducible production and release of neuroactive substances and being mitoticallyarrested at a predetermined temperature. Drugs can be screened as to their agonistic orantagonistic properties toward production and release of neuroactive substances. Inaddition, these cells may be used as a source for the neuroactive substances at loci in thecentral nervous system which are deficient in a particular neuroactive substance andthereby partially or completely alleviate a certain disorder.
