摘要：A system of implantable defibrillation leads, and methods for their use. Eachlead is provided with an elongated defibrillation electrode surface, made up of a pluralityof electrode coils. Each electrode coil is mutually insulated from other electrode coils,and coupled to a separate electrical connector. In some embodiments, the electrical coilsare interwound, and each extend along the length of the electrode surface. In otherembodiments, the electrode coils are arranged sequentially, and each extend over only aportion of the elongated electrode surface. In use, the individual electrode coils orcombination of coils may be selected to define an optimal electrode length and/orsurface area for use in conjunction with particular multiple electrode defibrillationsystem. In addition, the ability to select between individual ones of the plurality of theelectrode coils also provides the possibility for repair the defibrillation lead system afterimplant without the necessity of removing and replacing the defibrillation leads.
